Accounting Specialist
Location: Bend, OR (Onsite)
Pay: $28.00 - $40.00 per hour DOE
Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to support a growing organization with a variety of accounting and financial operations responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in payroll processing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting, with knowledge of both U.S. and Canadian accounting practices preferred.
This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys wearing multiple hats and contributing across several areas of the accounting function.
Responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and on schedule
- Manage accounts payable, including invoice entry, coding, and vendor payments
- Handle accounts receivable functions, including billing, collections, and payment posting
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
- Prepare and maintain journal entries and account reconciliations
- Review financial records for accuracy and completeness
- Support general ledger maintenance and reporting
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as needed
- Work with internal teams to resolve accounting discrepancies
- Maintain compliance with company policies and applicable accounting regulations
- Support accounting operations for U.S. and Canadian business entities
Qualifications
- 3+ years of accounting experience in a staff accounting, bookkeeping, or accounting specialist role
- Experience with payroll processing
- Strong accounts payable and accounts receivable experience
- Knowledge of general accounting principles and month-end close procedures
- Experience supporting U.S. accounting operations required
- Experience with Canadian accounting practices, payroll, or multi-national entities preferred
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience
- Multi-entity accounting
- Construction, manufacturing, distribution, or professional services industry experience
- QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or similar ERP/accounting systems
- Canadian payroll, GST/HST, or cross-border accounting exposure
